Lionel Clifford Charles, 94, of Jennings, La., entered eternal rest on Aug. 22, 2024. Lionel was born Dec. 29, 1929, in Plaisance, La. to the late Eli and Mary Rideaux Charles.  He was the 12 of 14 siblings.  In 1950, Lionel married the late Jessie A. Simon and to that union, they were blessed with five sons.  Lionel served in the U.S. Army and was later employed by the Jennings Airport, the Pipeline, and he retired from the Ziegler Shipyard in 1976.  Lionel was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Knights of Peter Claver Council #132.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings, La.  A Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Ritual by the Knights of Peter Claver Council #132.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Jude Fernando officiating.  Burial will be in OLOPH Catholic Cemetery.
