Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a Monday afternoon shooting at an apartment complex on Winterhalter Street.

Spokesperson Kayla Vincent said deputies responded to calls of a possible shots fired at about 4:30 p.m.

“While deputies were on scene, it was learned the Lake Charles Police Department received a call from a local hospital in reference to a victim with a gunshot wound,” Vincent said.

She said during the initial investigation, detectives received information that the shooting may be linked to an earlier altercation between the same individuals involved.

“Detectives are currently continuing their investigation, examining evidence and interviewing witnesses,” Vincent said.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The victim was later released from the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
