Amy Peet Reynolds

Amy Peet Reynolds, 86, passed away peacefully on the morning of Aug. 23, 2024. She was born on April 22, 1938, in Lake Charles, La. Amy was a 1956 graduate of St. Charles Academy, and she met the love of her life, the Rev. Deacon Jack Reynolds the same year.

Amy pursued her passion for education by earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from McNeese State University. She dedicated her life to teaching and spent 33 years as an educator at Mossville and Molo Middle School. Amy’s commitment to her students and her love for teaching left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

She was a faithful member of St. Theodore’s Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. Her greatest love was her family, and she cherished making those close to her laugh.

Amy is survived by her son, Phil Reynolds (Stephanie) of Lake Charles; her daughter, Cindy Reynolds Robbins (Kevin) of Moss Bluff; her brothers, Norman Peet (Bertha) and Danny Peet (Georgia); her sister, JoAnn Simon (Robert); her sisters-in-law, Donna Peet, Ruby Peet, Ilsa Peet, and Deann Peet; her daughter-in-law, Denise Hanks Reynolds; her grandchildren, Tiffani Serrano (Raul), Marie Strother (Heath), David Reynolds (Carmen), Jack Reynolds (Anna), Blake Reynolds (Jennifer), Amy Reeves (Matthew), Tabitha Davis (Chris), Peet Reynolds, Kathryn Glaub (Blake), and Clint Robbins (Sarah); 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Deacon Jack Reynolds; her parents, Emmerson and Evelyn Blanchette Peet; her sister, Eula Mae George; her brothers, Emmerson Peet, Allan Peet, Keith Peet, and Mark Peet, and her sons, Raymond Emmerson Reynolds and Michael Earl Reynolds.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven. Graveside services will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Father Aubrey Gilbeau will serve as Celebrant. Visitation will be open to the public at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Sunday, Aug. 25, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Theodore’s Catholic church in Moss Bluff, La. 

The family is grateful for the care she received at Harbor House Hospice in Lake Charles.
