Michael was born Jan. 5, 1973 in Lake Charles and passed away unexpectedly Aug. 4, 2024 at his home in Westlake, La. at age 51. 

He is the son of the late James W. Moss, Chemistry Professor at McNeese, and the late Marion Corkran Moss, an R.N. at West Cal Cam Hospital. 

After graduating from LaGrange High School in 1991, he volunteered for the U. S. Army in Germany. Upon returning home, he became a Paramedic. He worked as an EMT at the Casino. He was married to Lynn L. Bryant Moss, the love of his life until her passing in 2019.

Michael has a son, Alex James Moss, who resides in Pennsylvania. 

Surviving Michael are his brother and sister-in-law, James Simien (Celeste) and Brianne Simien of Lake Charles.

His aunt Kathleen Moss Smith (Harold) survives Michael, as his Moss cousins,  Lacey, Matthew, Adrianna, Kenny, Danielle and Esther Moss Stach (Brad). 

When Michael and his buddy, the late Trinity Bay, were not at gun shows selling knives or on their beloved computers, they were out camping or buying survival gear.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, with a procession leaving the funeral home at 2:45 p.m. for a graveside service at Sallier Cemetery at 3 p.m. Matthew Moss will officiate, with United States Army Honors to be presented to the family at the graveside.
