A Jennings man is charged with two counts of attempted murder after shooting at an occupied vehicle on Bryan Street on Friday, authorities said.

Several of the rounds also struck nearby residences, according to Police Chief Danny Semmes.

Kaynan Montae Deshotel, 28, is charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal carrying or discharge of weapons.

Semmes said police received a call of shots being fired at a red Dodge charger in the area of Bryan Street around 4 p.m. Friday.

“When officers arrived at the scene they found Deshotel with a Glock handgun with a magazine and numerous shell casings on the ground,” Semmes said.

The vehicle had left the scene, but was later located by officers hidden under a tarp in the 600 block of West Street, Semmes said.

“The vehicle was underneath a tarp, but when the wind blew you could see red paint underneath and it was obvious the tarp had just been put on the vehicle,” he said.

Numerous bullet holes were found in the vehicle after obtaining a search warrant from District Judge Steve Gunnel, he said.

Several projectiles were also recovered from the vehicle and two residences on Bryan Street where the shooting occurred.

No injuries were reported, according to Semmes.
