Thomas Lewis Hatton

Thomas Lewis Hatton of Moss Bluff, La. passed away on Aug. 7, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born on Aug. 18, 1929 in Bassfield, Miss. where he grew up. He served two years in the US Army during the Korean War. Lewis worked as an engineer with Baroid for 31 years before retiring. He was an active member of First Baptist Moss Bluff church, never met a stranger, and shared joy with anyone he met by graciously giving out candy. In his leisure time, he loved gardening, cooking, and traveling with his beloved wife.
Lewis was preceded in death by his mother, Gaye Hatton; his father, Tom Hatton, and his brother, Scott Hatton all of Bassfield, Miss.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Hatton; son, David Hatton (Pat); daughter, Lynda Hornsby (Larry); sister-in-law, Sandra Hatton. Lewis loved his grandchildren, Jamie Watson (Nic), Chelsey Shackelford (Aaron), Jessica Cohen (Pete), Jodi Causey (Derek), and great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lane Watson, Slaydon and Sadie Shackelford, David and Scout Causey, and Izzie Cohen.
The family would like to thank everyone at the SWLA Veterans home in Jennings, La. and Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles for all the care they provided.
The Funeral services for Lewis will be held at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 11, 2024 at Hixson’s Funeral Home of Moss Bluff, La. Pastor EJ McCann will officiate. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and continue until the start of the service at 2:30 p.m. Lewis will be laid to rest in the Ebenezer Cemetery of his hometown Bassfield, Miss.
