Paul Goodwin

Paul Goodwin was born on Dec. 3, 1946, to the late Willis Goodwin, Sr. and Evia Nero Goodwin in Church Point, La.  He departed this life surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the age of 77 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  He graduated from Washington High School in 1969.  After graduation he joined the Army and retired in 1971. He then attended college at Southern University and graduated from McNeese State University with a degree in Accounting.  He later went on to marry Agnes Watson Goodwin on May 1, 1976. They had 48 wonderful years together before his departure from this life.  To this union three sons were born, Jason, Adrian and Corey.

Paul was a dedicated employee of Citgo for 34 years before his retirement. He also owned and operated Paul’s Tax Service for over 30 years.  Paul loved to cook for everyone and loved baking pies. He enjoyed watching football especially the Saints.  He also loved spending time with his family and friends, always cooking for them. He was always willing to help no matter the time or day, when someone was in need, he was there.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 48 years, Agnes Goodwin of Lake Charles, La.; three sons, Jason (Paris) Goodwin of Sulphur, La., Adrian (Allison) Goodwin of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Corey (Valencia) Goodwin of Iowa, La.; 11 grandchildren, Gabrielle, Dylan, Amiyah, Morgan, Caiden, Alex, Caleigh, Ava, Austin, Autumn and Aliyana; one great-granddaughter, Koryn; one sister, Norma Goodwin of Houston, Texas. He also leaves a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis Goodwin Sr. and Evia Nero Goodwin; three brothers, James Thomas Sr., Willis Goodwin Jr. and Carlton Goodwin; five sisters, Sylvia, Clara and Mary Goodwin, Mildred Goodwin-LeDay and Anne Larden, and two infant siblings.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., at King’s Funeral Home and funeral service at 12:30 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.
