Louisiana State Police Troop D are investigating a  Friday night two-vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 10 that claimed the life of 58-year-old Andrew Gonsalves.

Trooper Sgt. Ross Brennan said the crash happened at 8 p.m. just east of La. 109.

Brennan said Gonsalves was traveling east on I-10 while driving a 2000 Lexus ES. At the same time, a 2014 Volvo 18-wheeler was also traveling east on I-10. For reasons still under investigation, the Lexus struck the rear of the 18-wheeler before traveling off the roadway to the right and striking several trees.
