A Lake Charles man has been charged with raping a family member under the age of 12.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said deputies were dispatched to a local hospital Tuesday in reference to a rape complaint.

Vicent said during the investigation, detectives were advised Joseph R. Perry, 45, had sexually abused a family member under the age 12.  The investigation revealed the abuse occurred on multiple occasions since 2023.

Perry was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with first-degree rape.

Judge Kendrick Guidry ordered he be held with no bond.
