Ellory “Butch” Holland Burgess Jr.

Ellory “Butch” Holland Burgess Jr. was born Aug. 28, 1964, in Lake Charles, La. He passed away in an automobile accident with his future son-in-law, Cody Goode on July 12, 2024, in Beauregard Parish.
Butch was a good man. He was a christian who attended Hargrove Bible Baptist Church. He has driven log trucks and operated heavy equipment. He was employed by Beauregard Parish Public Works for several years. He then went into business himself. He was the owner/operator of an excavating company. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting deer, hogs, and coons. He was a member of DeRidder Riding Club. He loved kids. Butch’s life revolved around taking care of his wife, Angie and daughter, Katie. Butch was a wonderful husband, son, father, and uncle. He was a calm and stable influence in all situations.
He is survived by his daughter, Kaitlyn “Katie” Latisha Burgess; father, Ellory Holland Burgess Sr. and stepmother, Gertie; brother, John Burgess and wife, Missy; sisters, Melissa “Missy” Whittington and husband, Bud, Sharon “Peanut” Burgess, Heath and Kendalyn Furr; five nieces; seven nephews; 14 great-nieces; seven great-nephews; and onegreat-great-nephew; brother-in-law, Vance Perkins and wife, Ginny, Derrick “DD” Perkins, and Jason “Festus” Perkins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Angela Perkins Burgess, and mother, Sharon “Sissy” Slaydon Burgess.
Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, at First United Pentecostal Church, 230 Smith Street, DeQuincy, La. Visitation will continue from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the church. Interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Ragley, La.
