UPDATE: Victim identified in Sulphur officer-involved shooting

Louisiana State Police Detectives are continuing an investigation into the officer-involved shooting that occurred in Sulphur on Thursday.
The incident claimed the life of 37-year-old Mark Hayden Jr. of Sulphur.
Trooper Matt Gaspard said their preliminary investigation revealed that Sulphur Police Department officers were investigating an earlier domestic incident involving Hayden. Hayden fled the scene of the domestic incident prior to the arrival of officers, but was later located.
“During the encounter, Hayden sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Gaspard said.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Forensics Unit assisted in processing the scene.
This investigation remains active, and further information will be released when it becomes available, Gaspard said.
