Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2024, at Matthews Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2024, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel for James Kratzer, 86, who passed away July 1, 2024.

The family is requesting visiting hours to be held on Friday on 1 p.m.. continuing until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m. James Kratzer loved farming, raising cattle, growing hay, as well playing music. He was a hardworking man who worked at Conoco as well as Jeff Davis Electric Company. Most of all he loved spending time with his nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was kind and generous man who always would lend a helping hand to family and friends. He was a devoted member of Saint Lawrence Catholic Church.

James is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kratzer; children, James (Jim) Kratzer (Celena), Glenn Kratzer, Gerald J “Pal” Kratzer, and Thelma Sue Moore; sisters, Betty Ann Robicheaux (Cedric), and Mary Jane Lessigne, as well as, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

James is preceded in death by his parents, James Kratzer Sr. and Ella Kratzer; son, Tim (Moe) Kratzer, and brother, Martin Wayne Kratzer.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Jennings, La.
