Zydeco in the Lake set to make a splash on Saturday

Rusty Metoyer and the Zydeco Krush will bring his unique brand of Zydeco music to the Alumni Pavilion Saturday, June 29. Doors open at 6 p.m. Zydeco in the Lake, presented by the McNeese Black Alumni, begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets will also be available at the door, but don’t bring cash to purchase those. Do bring a clear bag, ID and a lawn chair.
Kyandria Scott, McNeese Black Alumni president, said the fundraiser for scholarships will be a cashless event. Bring a debit or credit card for ticket and to purchase drinks, beer, food and snacks from on-site vendors. No purses or bags will be allowed in unless they are clear. No food or drink will be allowed.
“This is our first annual zydeco fundraiser, “ Scott said, “and the first time ever to have Rusty Metoyer as a performer, an entertainer who always appeals to audiences of all ages.”
Metoyer’s brand is hailed as unique because of its noticeable influences from many different genres such as funk, rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country, hip hop and soul. Albums include Comin’ in Hot, Vol. 1, Live in Lake Charles, Unlike Any Other, In Due Time and Take My Hand.
Metoyer was the recipient of the lasting Impression Award for his work in preserving Creole heritage and culture.
