From da-da-duh-duh, SNAP-SNAP to um-diddle-ittl-um-diddle-l, with plenty of other music from film, television and cartoons in between, the Lake Charles Community Band is pleased to invite the public to “be our guest, be our guest” for its second free summer concert.
Don’t miss “A Night at the Movies,” Monday, June 24, at the McNeese University Tritico Theater at 6:30 p.m.
Jeremi Edwards said he was pleased to see Tritico Hall filled with community and family members for “Tribute to Grammy Winners.”
“It was Dr. Davaron Edwards’ first time conducting the LCCB,” Jeremi Edwards said. “I was on the first row and I could tell he was pleased.”
Davaron Edwards is the McNeese assistant director of bands. Jeremi Edwards is the composition/music theory professor.
This concert has something for everyone, according to Jeremi Edwards, themes from Caravan, Saturday Night Fever, the Adams Family, Mary Poppins, a classic Disney film, as well as Mulan, a more recent classic.
The band is ready with the most challenging selection, a piece that includes 50 different themes.
“The tempo, the key and all the different styles of music the composer throws in there is challenging, but the band has definitely risen to the occasion,” Jermi Edwards said.
For concert first timers – Tritico Theater is cool, comfortable and offers great acoustics. The accessibility is great, parking is good and the walkway is covered.
The Thursday, July 4 concert will be in celebration with the Lake Charles Independence Day festivities.
“Join us as we mark this special occasion with music, community and patriotism,” Jeremi Edwards said.
