The Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators got their first longball Thursday, but the Baton Rouge Rougarou big hit of their own late to leave the Lake Area with an 8-2 win in the Texas Collegiate League.

In the top of the eighth inning, the Gators’ (6-6) Reagan Weilblinger got two quick outs on a flyout and a strikeout but promptly loaded the bases on a single, walk and hit batter. Baton Rouge’s (6-4) Clayton Pourciau made Weilblinger pay with a bases-clearing double to break up a 2-2 tie since the second inning.

Lake Charles’ Will Brassil hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the second inning to cut the Rougareau’s lead to one, 2-1, and Kraton Morse’s single allowed Landon Hunt to score the tying run.
