A homeless man has been arrested for illegal possession of stolen things after deputies were dispatched Monday to a business on Goodman Road in reference to a burglary.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said a wire fence was cut to gain access to the property and once inside, grounding cables that contained copper wire were removed
“During an unrelated incident, detectives made contact with Mark A. Villarreal, 31, who confirmed the whereabouts of the stolen grounding cables,” Vincent said. “Detectives were able to locate the cables at a residence on Goodman Road in Lake Charles.”
Villarreal was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with illegal possession of stolen property $1,000 to $5,000.
Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $6,500.
The investigation is ongoing.
