Bobby Babineaux

Bobby passed away on April 7, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born in Mallet, La., on July 20, 1946, to Linic and Mabel Lavergne Babineaux. Bobby lived most of his childhood years in Scott, La. A transfer for his father’s job brought him to Lake Charles, in 1963. He graduated from LaGrange High School in 1964 but considered himself a Scott High School Alumnus and attended all of their reunions.
Bobby spent every minute he could at his camp on the Calcasieu River. His passions were fishing, duck hunting, and cooking. He learned to cook during his time serving in the U.S. Army Reserves.
His is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Benoit Mennie; his parents; beloved step-father, Whitley Lavergne; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Lurlin Elkins; and brother-in-law, Terry Soileau.
He is survived by his long-term companion, Vesta Drake; daughters, Jamie Cutright and husband, Derek, Tessa Roy and husband, Jason and Lacey Blackburn and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Brayden, Dominic, Donovan, Erik, Camille, Kayla, Owen, Carter, Addysen, Ian, and Collin; sister, Velma Soileau, and best friend, Harold Richard.
To honor his wishes, a private memorial will be held.
