On March 29, 2024, Tensey Glyn Pricer walked into the arms of his Heavenly Father. Born in 1972 in Lubbock, Texas, he lived and loved to the fullest during his 51 years. He embodied everything that was good, kind, compassionate and humble. This gentle giant, this tower of strength, leaves behind his beloved wife of 27 years, Michelle Smith Pricer; a daughter, London Olivia Pricer Jackson; a son, Becket Kennen Pricer, and two granddaughters, Ella Rae Jackson and Layla Jade Jackson. Also left behind are his mother and father-in-law, Alice Fay and KW Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer Smith Slaton and JB Slaton; brother-in-law, Michael Smith; brother, Dwain Smith; sister-in-law, Denise Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Pricer; father, Ted Pricer, and brother, Charles “Chuck” Smith.

A life-long lover of athletics, Tensey played basketball throughout his youth and was a part of the varsity basketball team at Sulphur High School until his graduation in 1991. He began his career in the sports department of the Southwest Daily News working full time while earning his bachelor’s degree in Communications from McNeese State University in 1997. He went on to become Head of High School Sports for the Lake Charles American Press and eventually a Desk Editor for The Advocate in Baton Rouge. His passion for sports led him to the founding of his website Pelicanpreps.com. He was a gifted writer, designer and photographer, earning awards and recognition during his seventeen years as a sports journalist. 

He joined LWCC in 2008 as a Communications Specialist eventually working his way up to Agency Relations Manager where he was responsible for a team that worked with hundreds of insurance agents across Louisiana. He also supported the company’s philanthropic efforts serving on LWCC’s Cornerstone Committee, leading its Corporate Cup team and organizing a statewide service project with food banks across Louisiana. 

He had a heart for service. He volunteered as a coach for the YMCA and the Istrouma Baptist Sports Organization going on to serve as the Referee Commissioner. He loved being a part of The Dunham School community and served as the President of Pawbackers, managed and coordinated the Press Box for all home varsity football games and was the Spiritual Director for the Men’s Club.  

His greatest joy in life was his family. He was so proud of the life he and Michelle had built and their children and grandchildren. He loved reading, taking care of his yard and home, writing and exercising.

He will be greatly missed, but his words will live on in his years of daily devotional texts and journals. He truly lived a life that pointed people to Christ, and that is his greatest legacy.

He finished his race. Well done, good and faithful servant.

A celebration of his life and legacy will take place on Wednesday, April 3, at The Chapel on Siegen Lane. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. with the funeral at 1 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and a reception at The Chapel on Siegen Lane. 

Honoring Tensey as pallbearers are his nephew, Brock Slaton, JB Slaton, Michael Smith, nephew, Bo Smith and his childhood best friends, Donald Welch and Chad Rochelle. Honorary pallbearers are Dwain Smith and KW Smith.
