Julie Ann Meche, 58, passed away on March 20, 2024, in Lake Charles, La.
Julie was born and raised in Lake Charles. She graduated from McNeese State University earning a bachelor’s degree. With her knowledge and love for the camera and media, she worked at KPLC for 35 years where she was the news operations manager.
Julie enjoyed reading books, putting puzzles together, watching TV, “discussing” politics and most of all spending time with friends and family. Her infectious smile and contagious laugh were like none other. Her tough, selfless, genuine love was felt in every “bear” hug. She loved hard and put everyone before herself. Julie was a devoted friend and mentor to all. Her beautiful soul left an impact on each person that came into her life. She deserved more than the world had to offer. Her wit, sarcasm, patience and love will never be forgotten. As Jules would say, “Thanks for playing”.
She was a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, cousin, and niece. She was “Nanny.” Above her love for her hobbies, work family and job, her world revolved around her family, nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish her memory are siblings, Lonnie Meche and wife, Jeri Meche, and Beverly Meche Austin; three nieces, Courtney Meche Allee and husband, Jared Allee, Monica Austin Benoit and husband, Danny Benoit Jr., Brandy Austin Perry and husband, Dan Perry; grandnieces and nephews, Gadric Theriot, Jacob Self, Brandon Keenan Jr., Parker Allee, Carter Allee, Hayden Austin, Alexis Benoit Clark, Caroline Clark, Colt Perry, Ella Perry; several extended nieces and nephews, Raelinn Pena-Clement and husband, Michael Clement, Payton Crochet, Landon Crochet, Rylan Pena-Clement, Selena Pena- Clement, Ashley Comeaux, Grayden Comeaux, and Fredrick Lewis.
