Norma Jean Childress

Norma Jean Childress, 84, passed away from this life on March 15, 2024, in a local hospital.
Jean will forever be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to shop and loved spending times with her grandchildren. Jean was a dog lover and enjoyed watching murder mysteries on TV, and working the garage sale and estate sale circuit. She retired after many years as a receptionist in the detectives division of Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ewell Hopkins Allen and Nora Marie Neal Allen; children, Timothy Ray Childress and Ernest Roland Childress Jr.; siblings, Tommie Rhodes and Virginia Bonds, and special niece, Billie-Sue Farrow.
Mrs. Childress leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Mitzi Foreman and husband, Mark, Gena Saucier and husband, Shawn, and Wendi Bustillo and husband, Ray; son, Ray Childress; grandchildren, Ernie Bustillo, Jenifer McComb, Kristina Bustillio, Mavy Ducote, Mark Foreman Jr., Shawna Drake, Jean Baptiste Saucier, Charlie Saucier, and Crystal Childress; 26 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in the chapel of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home in Iowa from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m.. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 8 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Johnson and Brown Funeral Home in Iowa. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
