Johnny Pete was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Chloe, La. to Freddie and Odelia Stevens Pete. Johnny was a graduate of Washington High School and later joined the United State Army on Oct. 4, 1960. He was a retired employee for LyondellBasell, formerly known as Hercules. He attended Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ, now known as St. Cathedral COGIC. Mr. Pete departed this life Friday, March 8, 2024, in Lake Charles. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Peggy L. Farmer Pete; one daughter, Shelley Pete; three sons, Joel (Alisha) Pete, Johnny (Natalie) Pete, and Jonathan (Cherina) Pete; three sisters, Alice Pete, Mary Pete Johnson, and Elnora Ratcliff; one brother, Charles Eli Pete; eleven grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, Frederick and Kenneth Pete; his parents, Freddie and Odelia Pete, and two brothers, Houston and Joseph Pete. His visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. with his funeral following at 2:30 p.m., at James Funeral Home located at 1801 Moeling Street in Lake Charles. His burial will be in Perkins Cemetery in Westlake.
