A Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a driver Thursday morning who attempted to drive off with him in the vehicle.

Louisiana State Police, who is investigating the officer-involved shooting, said the shooting occurred on Intestate 10 about five miles west of Iowa, La. The shooting caused the eastbound lanes of the interstate to be closed for about two hours.

Trooper Sgt. Derek Senegal said the driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
