Richard Leonard Stout

Richard Leonard Stout, 92, passed away on Feb. 28, 2024, at a local care facility. Richard was born on May 23, 1931, in Lake Charles, La. to Leonard R. and Nellie LeBrun Stout. He moved to the Sulphur Mines in 1937 and then to the town of Sulphur in 1942. Richard graduated from Sulphur High School in 1948 and worked for Union Sulphur, Texaco, Firestone and retired from Conoco after 30 years of service. He belonged to the Sulphur Masonic Lodge 424 and Westlake 443. He was past district deputy district 10 F&AM of Louisiana and past grand patriarch IOOF of Louisiana past patron love chapter 209 OES Sulphur, past national president of NCT of North America. Richard started attending FBS in 1937, serving as SC teacher and as a deacon through the years.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Stout; two sons, Richard (Dicky) Stout and wife, Debra, of Westlake, Ted Stout and wife, Rebecca, of Gillis; four step-children, Bonnie Reed of Marriottsville, Md., Craig Murrell and wife, Deanna, of Mt. Airy, Md., Roby Anne Dyer and husband, Dr. Syd, of Lake Charles and Brett Murrell and wife, Bekki of Commack, N.Y.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Those preceding him in death are his first wife, Shirley Jean Clark Stout; his parents; his brother, John Ray Stout, and one son, James L. Stout.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of services. Cremation will follow services and has been entrusted to Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Pastor Marcus Wade will officiate services.
