Bobbie Dean Billeaud

 Bobbie Dean Billeaud, 78, of Hackberry, passed away at a local care facility surrounded by his loved ones. Bobbie was born in Holly Beach, La., was a lifelong resident of Hackberry and was a 1964 graduate from Hackberry High School. While at Hackberry High School, Bobbie played on the basketball team, ran track, and was on Benny’s “Little 11” football team. After high school he went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Bobbie was a great outdoorsman who loved to hunt ducks and geese. He was an avid fisherman of redfish, flounder, and bass earning the nickname “The Bill Dance of Hackberry.” Bobbie retired from Himont in 2002 after a long career. 

Those left to cherish Bobbie’s memory are his loving companion of 56 years, Louella Nunez; sisters, Hilda Temple (Ricky Scott), Sadie Benoit; nephews, Brandon Core (Opal), Trent Core, Len Temple (Tristie); nieces, Sherri Barrow (John), Donna “Sissy” Hebert (Richard), Kelly Hebert (Michael), and Rhonda Reon; numerous great and great-great- nieces and nephews, and his dog, Molly. 

Bobbie is preceded in death by his parents, Stafford Billeaud and Mattie Williams; nephews, Leonard “Grub” Temple, and Vince Benoit.

Funeral  services for Bobbie will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024 at 1 p.m. in the Old Hackberry Community Center.  Burial will follow in Hackberry Community Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Community Center and Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
