Iowa rolls to win over Westlake, sets up showdown with LCCP

WESTLAKE — After taking their first loss since Dec. 28 on Saturday, Iowa turned in a dominating performance Tuesday to beat Westlake 72-39 on the road.
Iowa (won for the 14th time in 15 games and set up a big District 3-3A game on Friday against Lake Charles College Prep at Iowa High School. Lake Charles College Prep (11-7, 3-0) beat St. Louis Catholic (14-9, 2-2) 63-50 to win its 10th consecutive game.
Desamonte Gradney scored a game-high 19 points for Iowa, and Dashawn Ceaser finished with 13.
Iowa has won four district games by an average of 39.5 points and outscored Westlake 37-23 in the second half.
Westlake (12-8, 1-2) led once on their opening shot by Ryan Allen followed by an Iowa 10-0 run.
Iowa turned an eight-point lead into a 31-16 halftime advantage after outscoring the Rams 17-6 in the second quarter. Gradney opened the second quarter with back-to-back buckets, and Makaylin Jackson came off the bench to hit a pair of 3-pointers as the Yellow Jackets opened the quarter on a 10-0 run.
D.J. Garriet led the Rams with 15 points, while Ryan Allen finished with 10.
