Delbert Clyde Holden Jr., 72, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, in the comfort of his home following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Delbert was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Aransas Pass, Texas and grew up in Hot Springs, Ark. At a young age he came to Louisiana to work alongside his father who was employed by Mike Hooks, LLC. He worked as a dredging engineer until his retirement.
He loved his family, when he wasn’t working, he enjoyed taking his kids fishing anywhere they could wet a hook and accompanying his brother and close friend Wesley hunting. His hobbies also included playing bingo, watching tv, and keeping up with the yard work.
He is survived by two sons; Jason Holden and Sheldon “Scott” Holden; one brother, Albert “Dewey” Holden and wife Becky; two sisters, Linda Milam and husband David and Debbie Trahan; grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Susana, Sheldon, Sofia, John, Everleigh, and Haizleigh; great-grandchildren, Macie, Mason, Eric, Ashton.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brad Holden; wife of 18 years, Sherry Guillory Holden; and parents, Delbert C. Holden Sr. and Sarah Birtha Finnegan.
Memorial services to be held Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Simple Traditions by Johnson. Visitation will begin 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Simple Traditions by Johnson. Following services, he will be placed next to his Sherry in Pine Hill Cemetery.
