WEATHER UPDATE: Schools, Police Jury office closed tomorrow

All Calcasieu, Beauregard, Jeff Davis and Allen parish public schools will be closed on Tuesday due to inclement weather.

All sporting events are also canceled for the day.

“With current forecasts not including precipitation after tomorrow, we do anticipate opening as normal on Wednesday,” said CPSB spokesperson Holly Holland. “We will update families and employees on the status of school for Wednesday by noon tomorrow.”

Calcasieu Parish has issued an emergency declaration for the weather event, following Gov. Jeff Landry’s statewide declaration earlier this week.

The Calcasieu Public Transit System will not be in service on Tuesday and all Police Jury offices are closed.

The Calcasieu Parish Planning and Zoning Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. has been canceled.

All Cameron Parish offices and dump sites will closed on Tuesday.

All city of Lake Charles administrative offices and services, including City Hall, will be closed during regular business hours on Tuesday. Transit operations will also be suspended during this time as road conditions could be dangerous.

McNeese State University said it will be transitioning its students to online course delivery on Tuesday.

“Students should check Moodle for information about specific classes and communicate with their instructors as soon as possible if they are unable to complete coursework,” said McNeese spokesperson Tanya Brewster.

Rowdy’s Dining Hall will continue operating on the normal schedule, but retail dining locations will be closed.

Brewster said the school plans to resume normal operations including on-campus course delivery on Wednesday.

All Sowela Technical Community College locations will be closed Tuesday, as well.

All Calcasieu and Jeff Davis parish public library branches and facilities are also closed on Tuesday.
