St. Louis blanks South Beauregard in district opener

LONGVILLE — St. Louis Catholic controlled the game from the first whistle on Saturday to blank South Beauregard 5-0 and take the early lead in Division III, District 3.

St. Louis (9-4) won the battle fo top five teams and moved up to No. 2 in the Division III power rankings, while the loss dropped South Beauregard (16-3-2, 0-1) to spot to No. 7

The Saints outshot South Beauregard 10-0 in the first half, but didn’t score until late in the first half as Lady K’s goalkeeper Alexandra Cervenka stopped six shots in the first 32 minutes. Cervenka finished with eight saves.

Addison Moreno broke the scoreless tie with a shot from 15 yards out on the right side in the 34th minute, and Adelaide Flavin scored in the final minute of the first off when she got a shot off after Emma Roach’s attempt was deflected.

South Beauregard came out strong in the first half and got a corner kick and shot on goal in the first minute, but St. Louis’ Ashley Jones buried a shot in the back of the net off a pass from Gracie Savoie in the 47th minute.

The Saints final two scores came in the last 10 minutes. Savoie scored with an assists from Roach and Flavin scored her second goal.
