Celebration of Life Services for Brother Joseph Broussard Jr., 84, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at St. Paul Baptist Church with Reverend Pernell R. Trent Sr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings. Burial will be in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, La. Miliary Funeral Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the United States Army.
Brother Broussard passed away on Dec. 30, 2023. He was born on Dec. 15, 1939, to Jack and Lena Bernice Booth Broussard. Brother Broussard received his formal education at Jefferson Davis High School, Grambling College of Louisiana, Golden State University, and Baylor University. Brother Broussard served honorably in the United States Army and retired at the rank of Captain. He served in the Medical Corp and retired as a Heath Care Administrator for the United States Veterans Administration Hospital in Chicago, Ill. Brother Broussard was a devoted member of St. Paul Baptist Church, pastored by Reverend Pernell R. Trent Sr. where he served as a Deacon. He was a Civic leader in the Jennings Community and was an avid golfer. Brother Broussard was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity/Rho Chi Chapter.
Brother Broussard was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lena Broussard, and his brother Ralph Broussard Sr.
Brother Broussard is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judy Fontenot Broussard; his daughters, Kathleen “Kathy” Crader and Tisha Chretien; his grandchildren, Tareah, Michaela, Kaydell, Colby, and Ashlyn; his great-grandchildren, Allen, Miss Armani, Ta’Kyrah, Mhaila, Kai’Zlynn, and Ta’Kyrhii.
