City Council adopts revised alcohol sales ordinance

At the regularly called meeting of the Lake Charles City Council on Wednesday, Dec. 20, the Lake Charles City Council adopted a revised alcohol sales ordinance now in effect.
The adopted ordinance amends Sec. 3-8.4 to allow the sale of high alcoholic content beverages by supermarkets, grocery stores, convenience stores, and drug stores between the hours of 11 a.m. on Sundays and 12:01 am on Mondays. Supermarkets, grocery stores, convenience stores, and drug stores are authorized to continue to sell low alcoholic content beverages between the hours of 2 a.m. on Sundays and 12:01 am on Mondays.
Sales remain prohibited between the hours of 2-11 a.m. on Sundays. This amendment does not pertain to establishments operating as a bar, nightclub or lounge.
