Roanoke man facing vehicular homicide charges

Jeffrey Lynn Meche, 65, was arrested Friday by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office on a warrant obtained from Louisiana State Police on charges of vehicular homicide, driving left of center and no seatbelt.
Bond for Meche is set at $250,000
The charges stem from a Sept. 17 head-on crash that happened at the intersection of La. 26 and Hills Road, just south of Jennings.
Meche, who is accused of being intoxicated, was traveling north on La. 26 when it crossed the center line and hit an SUV driven by 29-year-old Chelsey Benoit of Jennings.
Benoit, who was not properly restrained, was transported to an area hospital where she died from her injuries.
