Lena LaRocca Mosca, 100, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully Dec. 18, surrounded by her loving family.

Lena was born on Feb. 1, 1923, and was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She proudly was a descendant of one of the large Italian families that migrated to the Lake Area in the early 1900’s. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where she served as a member of the Ladies Altar Society and spent weekly hours for the perpetual adoration.

Lena was an avid bowler for over 40 years and was a long-time secretary of the Tuesday Night Big Top League. She loved playing Bourre, gardening and was proud of her beautiful yard and flowers. In the late 1940’s, Ben, her husband, and Lena owned a restaurant called The Hollywood Café on Broad Street. Lena was a great cook and her spaghetti and Sfincione Bread sometimes took days to cook for her big family to enjoy.  Throughout her working career she worked various jobs outside the home while raising their five daughters.
