Betty Canfield

Betty Marie Canfield, 96, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was a native of Natchitoches, La. and had been a longtime resident of Lake Charles before moving to Sulphur in 1998. She was a member of Houston River Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir. She enjoyed playing her piano, crocheting afghans, playing Mexican train dominoes, and listening to gospel and classic country music.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl McKay and husband, Joe, of Arlington, Texas, Claudia Anne Chamberlain and husband, Randy, of Charlotte, N.C., Candy Fassler and husband, Richard, of Lake Charles, and Charles B. “Chuck” Canfield Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Sulphur; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Canfield Sr.; her parents, Clarence and Agnes Louvier, and her siblings, Clarence Louvier Jr. and Cleo Soileau.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, in Houston River Baptist Church. The Pastor Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lake Charles under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service, Monday in the church.
