Zula Mae (Chapman) Hanagriff of Westlake, La., entered into rest on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born on March 13, 1930, in Edgerly, La. to Cliff “Clem” and Vinnie (DeVille) Chapman. On Feb. 19, 1946, Zula married the love of her life, Walter M. Hanagriff Jr. After 58 years of marriage, Walter passed away on May 16, 2004.
She was the loving mother of Julie H. Brinlee and her husband, Donny, of Owings, Md., Keith A. Hanagriff and his wife, Christine, of Sulphur, La. and Phyllis A. Hanagriff of Westlake, La., and the late Daniel and Lionel Hanagriff. Zula Mae was the devoted grandmother of 11, great-grandmother of 12, great-great-grandmother of one, and sister of Edward Chapman of Pearland, Texas and the late Marvin Chapman. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Zula Mae was very creative and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting and lots of other hobbies. She started a Christmas tradition of making four or more types of candy; a tradition that has carried on to this day.
Her faith in God guided her through life and provided strength at the most difficult times. She was a source of peace and guidance for her children and anyone in need of her help.
Zula Mae was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and a friend, now we add, angel.
