Windy conditions are expected to develop across Southwest Louisiana later this week before a low-pressure system makes its way into the area Friday bringing with it a wet weekend for residents.

An area of high pressure to the north and a low over the Yucutan peninsula will produce windy conditions across the region Thursday through Saturday, according to Donald Jones, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.

An area of low pressure will move across the area late Friday through Saturday, producing a potentially long duration rainfall event.

Severe weather is not expected, but the duration of the rain will carry a low end risk of flooding, Jones said.
