Rita Delores Kober Legnion, 82, of Lake Charles passed away at 7:49 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023.
Mrs. Legnion was born on June 28, 1941 in Crowley where she was raised and was a graduate of Crowley High School. She moved to Lake Charles in 1967. In 1987 she began a career at Walmart as a test scanner for more than 30 years. Mrs. Legnion was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel.
In her spare time she enjoyed going fishing and crabbing.
Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Donald “Don” Legnion of Lake Charles; children, Kevin Legnion (Kim) of Lake Charles, Traci Rani Page (Eugene “Dino”) of Lake Charles, and Dana McCormick (Corey) of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; daughter in law, Jennifer Legnion of Lake Charles; 11 grandchildren, Lance Armentor, Brandon, Sarah, and Nicole Legnion, Taylor Guillory (Landon), Evan and Dillian Beechler, Benjamin Page, Austin and Autumn Rhorer, and Karlie Jennings; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Legnion; a grandson, Caleb Beechler; parents, Lucille and Alvoid Kober; twin sister, Nita Delores Faulk, and a sister, Barbara Lynn Viator.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until leaving for the church at 9:30 a.m.
