A 17-year-old Lake Charles teen has been arrested in a home invasion and sexual assault that occurred early Sunday morning in the 1300 block of 14th Street.

Lake Charles Police Deputy Chief Franklin Fondel said the teenager burglarized the victim’s vehicle outside of the residence before making unauthorized entry into the home.

“The suspect then made contact with the victim and sexually assaulted the victim and then fled the area on foot,” Fondel said.

He said the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has been released.

Fondel said video surveillance was recovered and evidence submitted to the Southwest Crime Laboratory for processing provided a positive identification.

Detectives obtained a juvenile custodial affidavit on Thursday for the teenager. He is charged with one count of simple burglary of a vehicle, one count of home invasion, and one count of second-degree rape. The juvenile custodial affidavit was signed by Judge Cynthia Clay Guillory.

On Friday LCPD SWAT Officers arrested the juvenile suspect, without incident, on a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Dautel Street. He  has been booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with additional information is asked to contact lead Detective Sgt. Dustin Fontenot by calling 337-491-1311.
