Kenneth Espree, 29, a former Cypress Cove Elementary Teacher of the Year, has resigned from his position as a music teacher at Greenwood Forest Elementary School in Klien, Texas, after being arrested and incarcerated on a $200,000 bond on charges of illegal drug use and possessing child pornography.

He was arrested in September after Texas deputies found child pornography  on his computer, according to reports from ABC13 in Houston. He was accused of using meth and crack, and has been charged with five counts of possessing child pornography.

After his arrest, Espree was put on administrative leave before resigning in November. Parents in the Klein Independent School District were not informed of Espree’s arrest in September because he was not accused of any crimes involving students.

In the spring of this year, Espree resigned from the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Details on this resignation have not been made public.

Espree was employed by the Calcasieu Parish School Board from 2016 until 2020 as an elementary school music teacher.
