Billie Nell Hicks, a beloved member of the community, peacefully passed away at the age of 75 on Dec. 3, 2023. Born on Aug. 6, 1948, in Leesville, La., Billie was the cherished daughter of the late Woodrow “Robbie” Mock and Wilhelmina “Billie” Mock. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Woodrow Mock Jr. and Robert Mock.
Billie was a woman of many talents and a source of love and inspiration to those around her. With a creative spirit and a caring nature, she touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime. After completing her education at Leesville High School, Billie pursued her passion for beauty and opened her own salon, Billie Nell’s Beauty Salon. For years, she dedicated herself to helping others look and feel their best, establishing lifelong connections with her clients and colleagues. Her work brought joy to countless individuals, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
Within her family, Billie was a devoted wife to Sherman, her true love for the past 55 years, and a loving mother to her son, Bradley, and daughter, Kelli Royer. She treasured the moments spent with her grandchildren, Lendon, Willa, Makinley, Rivers, and Carson, and her new great-grandbabies, Brett Wayne and Brinley Nicole. Billie’s presence brought warmth and happiness to family gatherings, epitomizing the true essence of love and togetherness. She also shared a very special bond with her sister, Barbara, who provided unwavering support and companionship throughout their lives.
Billie had a generous spirit and led a fulfilling life. She found joy in simple pleasures such as spending quality time with her cherished family, grandchildren and great grandbabies, indulging in lunches and shopping excursions with her cousins and friends, and adorning her home with her unique sense of style. She also enjoyed supporting LSU football and LSU Lady Tigers Basketball.
Billie’s faith was an integral part of her life and she found solace and strength in her worship. She was raised in Slagle Baptist Church and then later attended Leesville First Baptist Church. For the past 30 years, she attended Trinity Baptist Church, where she nurtured her faith and connected with her spiritual community.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 1800 Country Club Rd, Lake Charles, LA 70605. A Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Steve James. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery, all under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
In honor of her memory, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, an organization close to Billie’s heart as she recognized the importance of supporting cancer research and providing assistance to those affected by the disease.
