Collum leads McNeese in Texas State win

Behind Antavion Collum’s double-double, the Cowboys rebounded from their first loss of the season to topple Texas State Tuesday in Ruston.
Collum finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead McNeese State to a 59-48 victory in the opening day of a Multi-Team Event at Louisiana Tech.
The win is the second for the Cowboys against a fellow Mid-Major program away from the Legacy Center as they improved to 5-1 on the young season.
Christian Shumate just missed his own double-double, ending with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Javohn Garcia added 10 points in the defensive-minded game.
McNeese will play Louisiana Tech Wednesday at 3 p.m. to close out the MTE.
After Tech the Cowboys will take the rest of the week off before playing another road game against a mid-major when they travel to play the Blazers of Alabama-Birmingham on Nov. 28. They will return home the following Saturday for a game with Tennessee-Martin inside the Legacy Center.
