The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early Sunday morning shooting at a Common Street business.

Spokesperson Kayla Vincent said deputies working off-duty security detail at a bar at about 3 a.m. Sunday overhead gunshots coming from the business across the street.

“When deputies arrived on scene they learned a woman had been shot in the parking lot, but was transported to a hospital prior to their arrival,” Vincent said.

She said surveillance video in the area and evidence at the scene led deputies to a home on North Prater Street, where they located the gun believed to have been used in the shooting.

The victim was transported to a hospital out of town to be treated for injuries sustained in the shooting, Vincent said.

The investigation is continuing, no arrests have been made at this time.
