The Jeff Davis Parish School Board will implement a clear bag protocol for spectators attending athletic events beginning Jan. 1, 2024.
In an effort to better protect students, visitors and other spectators attending athletic events held on local school campuses, the School Board announced that only clear bags will be allowed into gyms, football stadiums and any softball/ basefield that has a walk through single entry gate.
“In Jeff Davis Parish schools, safety is our top priority, especially during athletic events,” Curriculum Supervisor Frances LeBlanc said. “Therefore, a bag protocol has been developed for all athletic events.”
“This proactive measure will enhance safety and contribute to an enjoyable fan experience,” she continued. “We are committed to providing a secure and enjoyable environment for our students, parents and the community during all athletic events.”
Only clear bags meeting the specified criteria will be allowed inside the event premises. Non-compliant bags will be prohibited from entry.
Fans will still be able to bring a stadium seat into the venue.

The clear bag must be no larger than 12” x 12” x 6.” One-gallon clear plastic storage bags also meet the requirements.
Small clutch purses or wallets, no larger than 5.5” x 7.5,” may be allowed, but they can be subject to inspection.
Diaper bags, with a child in attendance, may be permitted after inspection and approved by event staff.
All bags and items, regardless of size or nature, are subject to searches.
Purses, fanny packs, camera bags, coolers, duffle or gym bags, backpacks, briefcases, drawstring bags, mesh bags, non-clear printed totes or any non-see-through bag larger than the permissible size will be prohibited.
