ELECTION RESULTS: Guillory will be Calcasieu’s next sheriff

There’s a new sheriff in town.
Calcasieu Parish voters hit the polls on Saturday to name Gary “Stitch” Guillory, no party, as their next sheriff.
Guillory started as a 21-year-old rookie for the Westlake Police Department and, at the time of the election, is chief deputy to Sheriff Tony Mancuso. He has served a total of 40 years in law enforcement.
Guillory received 60 percent of the vote with 24,851 votes.
Les Blanchard, a Republican, came in second with 28.41 percent of votes. Other candidates included Dustan Abshire, Elizabeth Gray Carrier, Bradley Moss and Mike Reid.
