Southside 35
Barbe 13
The defending District 3-5A champion Southside Sharks built up an early 21-0 lead to beat Barbe at Buccaneer Stadium.
The Sharks wore down the Bucs with their ground game, which produced 400 yards and five touchdowns. Vernel Joseph led the way with 169 yards on nine carries with three touchdowns. Ramon Singleton also topped the century mark (21 car., 114 yards) and scored the Sharks’ first touchdown in an 8-yard run in the first quarter.
The Bucs cut the deficit to 21-7 in the second quarter on a 3-yard run by Collin Harris.
Running back Eric Jones led the Bucs offensively with 96 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Quarterback Jelandon Jones completed 14 of 20 passes for 120 yards, and Luke Leger made five catches for 56 yards.

SULPHUR — St. Louis Catholic place kicker Landon Daughdril had another big night to help keep the Saints perfect in District 3-3A.
A week after drilling a career-high 52-yard field goal, Daughdril kicked three against the Golden Knights. He had a 43-yarder in the second quarter, plus a 42 and 35 in the second half. He also made all three of his extra points and is a perfect 15 for 15 on the season as well as 8 for 8 on field goals.
Saint running back Kyle Turner had his best game of the season with 167 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries and a receiving touchdown. He scored on a 34-yard pass from Luke Pierson in the second quarter and added a 24-yard run in the fourth.
St. Louis’ defense shut out an opponent for the second time this season led by linemen Kade Nugent (10 tackles, 1 TFL, 0.5 sack) and Ethan Goss (8 tackles, 0.5 TFL, 0.5 sack, FF).

MERRYVILLE — Elton junior running back Tristan Leblanc upped his consecutive 100-yard games to five to help the Indians end a two-game losing streak.
He ran for 161 yards on 19 carries and scored three times on runs of 11, 13 and 7 yards.
Backfield mate Makelin Lemoine ran for 48 yards on five carries and added a 65-yard pick-six in the first quarter. Treylen Ceaser had 55 yards and a touchdown on four touches.
Merryville avoided the shutout on an 18-yard pass from Stellan Mirante to Bryan Coody in the fourth quarter. Coody had three catches for 74 yards.
Basile 43

GUEYDAN — Defending District 5-1A champ Basile continued its hot start to district play with a dominant win over the Bears.
Basile has outscored its first two district opponents 70-8 after starting the season 1-2.
The Bearcats held Gueydan to 72 yards of total offense on 26 plays.
Basile running back Bryan Hardy scored for the fifth consecutive game with an 18-yard run to start a 30-point first quarter and a 55-yard punt return.
Tucker Leblanc scored on runs of 33 and 6 yards and finished with five carries for 39 yards.

MARKSVILLE — DeRidder will head into District 3-4A play on a two-game win streak after a dominating road win over Marksville.
The Dragons piled on the points in the first half, building up a 35-0 lead.
Dylan Vines (15 car., 107 yards, TD) and Reed Williams (9 car., 105 yards, 2 TD) both topped 100 rushing yards, and Javaughn Fairley scored twice in the first quarter and added 76 yards on five carries.
Opelousas 54

LEESVILLE — The Leesville Wampus’ Cats lost back-to-back games for the first time this season after starting 2-1.
Opelousas shutdown Leesville running back Xavier Ford, holding him to a season-low 57 yards on 10 carries. It is the first time Ford has been held under 100 yards in back-to-back games as a starter. Prior to Week 4, Ford had 15 consecutive 100-yard rushing games.
Leesville cut the Tigers’ lead to 8-6 on a 35-yard pass from Corbitt Robbins to Izaiah Farley, but Opelousas scored 40 consecutive points to put the game away.
Farley had eight catches for 109 yards and both of the Wampus Cats’ touchdowns. Robbins completed 22 of 37 passes for 233 yards and one interception.
Jennings 15
Iota 14
JENNINGS — Iota came out on fire to open the second half, but Jennings pulled it off to win for the third time in four games.
With 6:38 left in the third quarter, Jayden Benoit hit Josh Lejeune for a 21-yard touchdown to bring Jennings within a point. The extra point snap was bad, but holder Ryan Reed was able to turn it into a 2-point pass to Chris Ned for the lead.
Iota took a 14-7 lead on the first play of the second half on a long 66-yard pass from Peyton Renfro to Dylan Callahan. The pair hooked up for a 63-yard score in the second quarter. Renfro completed 17 of 26 passes for 280 yards and an interception. Callahan had four catches for 149 yards.
Lake Arthur 56

LAKE ARTHUR — Lake Arthur improved to 4-1 for the first time since 2018 to build momentum heading into District 5-2A play.
The Tigers held Pickering to 119 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers.
Lake Arthur scored 29 points in the first eight minutes of the game, starting with a 68-yard run by Zavier Drake. Darius Levi scored on a 17-yard fumble return, and Kenyon Boese added a 20-yard touchdown reception from Levi, who closed the first quarter scoring on a 44-yard run.
Jaydon Prudhomme led Lake Arthur with 101 yards and two touchdowns on four carries.
Xavier Mitchell had 109 yards on 10 carries for Pickering.
Erath 35
Vinton 20
ERATH — Vinton pulled within a point midway through the second quarter, but Erath exploded for 20 points in the third quarter to pull away.
Freddie Budwine’s 3-yard reception pulled the Lions with 15-14 after falling behind 15-0. Budwine made 10 catches for 206 yards and three touchdowns, and Braylon Beard completed 13 of 25 passes for 245 yards but was picked off three times.
Erath running backs Mason Hebert and Blake Dautreuil combined for four touchdowns and 146 yards.
