Carl “Kono” Sylestine

Funeral services for Mr. Carl “Kono” Sylestine will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, with the Rev. Lloyd Bassoo officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peters Cemetery, Elton, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Kinder.
Mr. Sylestine, 83, of Elton, entered eternal rest on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, in Elton, La.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a paint and body specialist, and he loved playing his guitar and singing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Sylestine; and his second wife, Ida Landry Sylestine; one granddaughter, Della Landry Mancil; his parents, Edward and Della Sylestine; and two brothers, Leroy Sylestine and Delson Sylestine.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include one son, Anthony Gene Sylestine of Iota; two daughters, Bernice Sylestine of Elton, and Vickie Breaux, and husband Alan, of Elton; two sisters, Geraldine Reed of Elton and Susie Bond of Elton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with the singing service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at 10 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Chad Breaux, Chris Breaux, Calvin Sylestine, Devin Sylestine, Burley Sylestine, Terry Sylestine, and Seth Sylestine.
