Diane Mary Fontenot

Diane Duplantis Fontenot, 84, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully on Sunday Sept. 17, 2023, surrounded by her family in a local care center.
Diane was a native of Morgan City, La. and married her husband and the love of her life, John H. Fontenot, in June of 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The young family settled down in Lake Charles, where they established a big family. Diane eventually became the mother of seven children, and grand and great grandmother to over fifty children (and counting). She retired from Sears Department store, where she worked for over 20 years and devoted her life and love to her grandchildren and was there for countless parties, school functions, recitals and sporting events. Diane enjoyed making memories with her family by gardening, sewing, making ceramic dolls, and spending time with friends at Senior Circle of Lake Charles. She was a faithful member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, and attended the De Colores Catholic Cursillo Retreat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noelton Joseph and Georgia Elizabeth Falgout Duplantis; husband of 51 years and love of her life, John Fontenot; daughter, Ronda Peveto Fontenot; sister, Geraine Clements; brother, David Duplantis; grandson, Dorsan Thomas Fontenot and great granddaughter, Avery Kate Soileau.
Those left to honor and cherish her memories are her children, Michael A. Fontenot; Christine Fontenot (Keith); Denine Moody (Bill); Mark Fontenot (Laurie); Dennis Fontenot (Laura); Elizabeth Self (Robert); twenty grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; brother, Dan Duplantis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of the heart.
Visitation will continue at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Today, Wednesday Sept.r 20, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 20 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church with Monsignor Daniel Torres serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Brookdale Senior Living of Lake Charles and to Harbor Hospice for the loving and compassionate care extended to their beloved Diane.
