Turn It Up Tuesday, a free outdoor concert series, returns to downtown Jennings Sept. 19 for a sixth season of music and fun.
The weekly event will be held 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays through Oct. 24 in Founder’s Park, located at the corner of North Main and Nezpique streets.
“It’s just a great way to kick off the week and pass a good time,” Jeff Davis Parish Arts Council President Tesha Onellion said.
People can kick up their heels to a variety of music from Cajun and Zydeco to country, classic rock and roll and more, according to Onellion.
This year’s musical lineup kicks off on Sept. 19 with Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns. Upcoming concerts will include T.J. Gautreaux on Sept. 26; Ground Zero on Oct. 3; Colby Latiolais and Ambush on Oct. 10 and Straight Whiskey on Oct. 17. Leroy Thomas will close out the season on Oct. 24.
“We try to select music that people will enjoy and want to get up and dance to,” Onellion said.
The event is sponsored in the fall and spring by the Jeff Davis Arts Council, Jennings Festival Association, City of Jennings and Joy LeBleu as a way to bring people to the downtown area and spotlight local musicians.
Food and drinks will be sold during the event.
In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be cancelled. Cancellations will be posted on the Jeff Davis Arts Council, City of Jennings and Jeff Davis Parish Tourism Facebook pages.
Those attending are encouraged to bring their lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the outdoor music. Ice chests and coolers will be allowed, but glass containers are prohibited.
