The son of Elton Mayor Kesia Lemoine was arraigned Monday in the 31st Judicial District Court.

Marcus Lemoine Jr. pleaded not guilty to simple battery stemming from an altercation at a local car wash in June.

Lemoine is accused of assaulting Roderick Williams, one of the organizers of a failed recall attempt to remove Mayor Lemoine from office amid allegations of voter fraud and other irregularities. Lemoine allegedly attacked and exchanged words with Williams while he (Williams) was washing his vehicle at a public carwash.
