Etta Joyce Nabours Hungerford

Etta Joyce Nabours Hungerford, 65, of Lake Charles passed away at 1:36 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Hungerford was born on February 3, 1958 in Lake Charles where she resided all of her life and was a graduate of LaGrange High School.  She worked at numerous local plants as a safety professional.  Mrs. Hungerford was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.  

She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed listening to music.  In her spare time she took pleasure in fishing.  Her time spent with family was well cherished.  Mrs. Hungerford cared for many family members who were in need. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Will Hungerford and Rachel Hungerford both of Seattle, WA; siblings, Dr. Keith Nabours of Lake Charles, Dr. Carl Nabours (Brenda) of Lake Charles, and Nannette Martinez of Shreveport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vince Hungerford; parents, Elvina and William Nabours; and a brother, Jim Nabours.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will begin on Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m.  Visitation will resume on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the start of the service.
