Elwood Hawkins Gould, Sr.

Elwood Gould Sr., 99, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023 in his residence.
He was raised in Waterproof, La. and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1955. He was a U.S. Navy World War II and Korean War veteran. After his time in the service, he went back to school and received his degree from LSU in 1955. Elwood was a very active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Sulphur. He enjoyed sports, especially football and baseball, and in his younger years, enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He was very active, running daily until he was in his 80’s and went to the gym daily.
Survivors include his children, Tommy Stutzman and wife, Brenda, Susan Dever and husband, Mark, Linda Ramey and husband, Chuck, all of Sulphur, Elwood Gould, Jr. of Lake Charles, and Scott Gould and wife, Joleen of Garden Ridge, Texas; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Gould; his brother, Leslie Gould; and his grandson, Jason Stutzman.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 26, in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 1700 Maplewood Drive, Sulphur. The Rev. Meg Lovejoy will officiate.
